John has more than 20 years of experience in Christian ministry in the United Methodist Church, as well as a Master of Divinity and a Doctorate of Ministry. A sought-after speaker and teacher, John is an expert leadership coach. In both seminars and retreats, John helps maximize group effectiveness by defining and creating a plan to achieve a common vision. As a stewardship consultant, he used these skills to help raise over $116 million for churches, judicatories and other organizations.
In addition, John is quite accomplished in leading studies. This important groundwork assists organizations to design strategies for success in both capital campaigns and strategic planning. John’s clients in this area have included parishes, schools and dioceses, including the Diocese of Lubbock, Texas, the Archdiocese of New Orleans, La., and the Archdiocese of Cincinnati, Ohio. John also has experience in resource development outside of the church, serving as Associate Director of Development for the Hospice of Butler & Warren Counties, Associate Vice President of Major and Leadership Gifts for United Way of Central Ohio, and Director of Development for the Cincinnati Art Museum.
John resides in Cincinnati, Ohio, with his wife, Cheri. Their growing family includes five children and five grandchildren. Voted “Most Likely to be a Professional Musician” in high school, John holds a degree in music. In his spare time, John enjoys spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle, and volunteering at his church. A member of the American Motorcyclist Association and the Honda Rider’s Club of America, John loves to relax on the open road.
